Slide Blues Guitar 101 - What you need to know to get started

When you start playing slide blues guitar there's a lot of things to get on top of. First you need to find a fitting guitar to use. Then you have to set it up for slide playing. A guitar of course also needs strings that are suited for playing slide guitar. You also have to think about what tuning(s) you want to use. To make things worse, all of these things are interconnected and there are many potential mistakes to make. After the guitar is ready for slide you need to get the actual slide. Do you go with brass? Glass? Steel? Long? Short?

When you have a working instrument and a good slide it's time to focus on the playing, and playing slide is very different from regular guitar playing. The left hand now has to handle the slide, make sure you play in tune and still do some fretting. All this while the right hand often plays both a bass line, chords and melody. And then there's all the muting...

If all this sounds like a big undertaking and you would like some guidance when entering in to the slide blues arena, you've come to the right place. This little book addresses all the areas mentioned above and gives the budding slide blues player some pointers about how to navigate through them. In just a few pages you get all the basic information you need to get on your way with slide blues guitar. And it's free!
